Methods for Extracellular Vesicle modification and engineering (EU60216)


HansaBioMed was just awarded a Product Development grant (EU60216) from Enterprise Estonia (EAS) which increases our R&D capabilities tremendously. The aim of this project is to develop methodologies for the specific modification of extracellular vesicles (EVs) both before and after their secretion from cells. These technologies enable HansaBioMed Life Sciences to provide services for the production of EVs with specific properties that can find application as new therapeutic tool.

Engineered EVs will be used for:

i) targeting specific tissues;

(ii) cargo and delivery system for therapeutic active molecules;

(iii) Reproducible biologic standard for the calibration of instruments.

The work is done in collaboration with Reet Kurg’s team at the University of Tartu, Institute of Technology.


The project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund in the amount of EUR 240,642.75
